The right intelligence, at the right moment: XConnect partners with Honey Badger
They have something we don’t. We have something they don’t.
That’s a pretty good place to start a partnership.
XConnect and Honey Badger have announced a new strategic partnership that brings together two very different but highly complementary sources of identity intelligence, creating a richer way for organisations to understand customers, assess risk and make better decisions throughout the digital journey.
Honey Badger brings proprietary real-world identity data and specialist KYC intelligence. XConnect brings global mobile intelligence, trusted operator data and Network APIs covering areas such as Number Verify, SIM Swap, Call Forwarding and KYC Match.
Together, those combined solutions can give customers a far broader view of identity and trust than either source can provide alone.
Bringing different sources of intelligence together
The thinking behind the partnership is straightforward: identity and fraud decisions are rarely based on one piece of information. A customer journey may require an organisation to understand whether a mobile number belongs to the person presenting it, whether the SIM has recently changed, whether identity information matches trusted records, or whether there are other signals which could influence the level of trust placed in a transaction.
Each signal has value, but the opportunity becomes much more interesting when different sources of intelligence can work together.
Under the partnership, Honey Badger will integrate XConnect’s global Network APIs and mobile identity services into its platform, extending its existing capabilities with trusted mobile network intelligence from global operators.
At the same time, XConnect will incorporate Honey Badger’s proprietary identity datasets into its own portfolio, enabling customers to combine real-world KYC intelligence with mobile network signals and advanced trust solutions.
The result is a layered approach to digital trust.
An organisation can begin with intelligent pre-qualification, enrich that decision using trusted mobile network signals and then add further verification using Honey Badger’s identity intelligence. The specific combination can vary according to the customer, risk level and point in the journey.
For banks, payment providers, fintechs and digital enterprises, this creates the potential to move beyond isolated API responses towards a much richer understanding of identity, risk and trust.
Moving the Network API conversation forward
The partnership also reflects a wider change taking place across the Network API market.
Enterprises increasingly have access to more data sources and more APIs, but the real commercial value comes from understanding which signals should be used, when they should be used and how they can work together to answer the questions customers actually need answered.
Mark Harvey, Chief Identity Officer at XConnect, explains: “The industry has spent years talking about APIs. We’re moving beyond the conversation. The Network API winners will be the organisations that know how to combine the right intelligence, from the right sources, at exactly the right moment.
This partnership proves what’s possible when two specialists bring genuinely different solutions to the table. Together we’re delivering something the market simply hasn’t had before. Richer intelligence. Better decisions. More confidence. If you think you’ve seen what’s possible with digital identity, try this. I think you’ll be surprised just how far our industry has moved on.”
Matt Salisbury, CEO and Founder of Honey Badger, sees the same opportunity from the perspective of identity intelligence: “At Honey Badger, we care about solving real problems for our customers. That's why we believe multiple data sources, orchestrated to maximise coverage and trust, are far more powerful than any single API. By combining our unique identity data with XConnect's Global Network Intelligence, we're moving customers beyond discrete data points to answering the identity and trust questions they're asking.”
From individual data points to better decisions
That final point is an important one.
The value of mobile network intelligence is already well established. Signals such as SIM Swap, Number Verify and Call Forwarding can provide trusted information directly from mobile networks at critical moments in a customer journey.
Real-world identity intelligence provides a different perspective. Bringing those two worlds together means organisations can start building decisions from multiple independent sources of trust rather than depending on a single signal.
This is particularly relevant in customer onboarding, account access, payments, fraud prevention and other high-risk journeys where organisations need confidence without adding unnecessary friction for legitimate customers.
It also gives customers greater flexibility in how they build their identity strategies. Rather than relying on a single source or point solution, they can orchestrate different signals according to the level of assurance required.
The partnership is designed to make that intelligence available at global scale, combining XConnect’s network reach with Honey Badger’s proprietary datasets and specialist identity expertise.
A complementary partnership
There is a wider lesson here, too.
The identity market continues to evolve quickly, and some of the biggest opportunities will come from specialist providers combining capabilities that complement one another rather than trying to recreate the same technologies and datasets independently.
XConnect and Honey Badger bring different strengths to the relationship, and that is precisely what makes the partnership valuable.
For customers, the aim is simple: richer intelligence, greater context and better decisions at the moments where identity and trust matter most.
And for both XConnect and Honey Badger, this is only the beginning...
