Voice over Broadband Providers from Asia, Americas and Europe join XConnect Peering Federations

SIPphone (US), Flip (Japan) and Oigaa (Spain) leverage settlement-Free settlement-based VoIP Peering to support innovative business models .

Boston, MA -- VON -- October 30, 2007 —XConnect, the provider of Federated VoIP Peering services based on ENUM, and operator of the XConnect Alliance, XConnect DirectRoute and Private Federations, announces three customers that are indicative of the rapid growth in its peering federations worldwide: FLIP in Japan, SIPphone in the United States and Oigaa in Spain.

The providers leverage a number of XConnect services including Global Alliance settlement-free peering as well as DirectRoute for low cost wholesale termination utilizing the XConnect Registry. All XConnect Federations are based on the emerging standards for highly scalable and efficient multi-lateral interconnection as developed by the IETF Speermint working group. The XConnect Global Alliance is the first and only VoIP Peering Federation to deliver settlement-free model between like peers that covers Registry, Signaling, Policy and Commercials. DirectRoute services, introduced in January, offer significant reductions on per minute transit peering to a wide range of destinations based upon the XConnect Registry.

“XConnect is pleased to welcome on board three innovative service providers who are creating dynamic new Residential and SME offers in their markets,” Said Eli Katz, Founder and CEO of XConnect. “These providers and XConnect recognize that the future of the industry is based on IP multi-media communications services, and we look forward to enabling them to provide these solutions to their customers and realize new revenue opportunities.”

SIPphone – www.sipphone.com – has also joined the XConnect Alliance to enable voice peering for their Virtual Number enabled Gizmo Project VoIP (Voice over IP) and VoIM (Voice over Instant Messaging) subscribers. SIPphone’s Gizmo Project has over three million users. The SIPphone Gizmo Project service will utilize the XConnect Local Directory Server to discover which outbound calls from its virtual number enabled VoIM clients can be routed on-net settlement free to the subscribers of other members of the Global Alliance and Private Federations.

“We believe the lines between VoIP, landline and mobile calling routes will continue to significantly blur in the coming months,” said Jason Droege, President of SIPphone. “Multilateral peering interconnects between service providers, cable operators and MVNOs will bring costs down and make it easier to keep in touch with anyone around the globe.”

Brastel Japan - www.brastel.co.jp – The leading telecoms service provider for expatriate communities in Japan has joined XConnect to offer its clients the benefits of both the Global Alliance as well as DirectRoute service. Brastel’s FLIP service provides subscribers deploy an ATA device for their broadband connections, and are assigned their own IP Phone number in the Japanese 050 number range. The business model for FLIP is based on flat rate calls to a destination country or group of countries. Brastel FLIP customers will now also find their calling packages include free calls to any number in the XConnect Alliance Registry worldwide. XConnect DirectRoute services will lower Brastel’s underlying termination costs to other global destinations. “Brastel and our new venture FLIP Telecom have been exploring new services and innovative and creative features for our customers in Japan,” said Yoshimitsu Ito, MD of Brastel Japan. “By partnering with XConnect and utilizing DirectRoute services we have started to take advantage the many commercial benefits of VoIP Peering that will one day soon extend to the entire industry.”

Oigaa – www.oigaa.com – is an innovative on-demand telephony service for business that is part of long-time XConnect Spanish member Voz Telecom, using the XConnect Alliance Registry to the extend free calling plans it offers around its unique hosted PBX service. Introduced now at VON Boston, Oigaa offers for FREE a fully featured IPCentrex service with unlimited number of extensions, as unified communication applications around, through other two paid packs.

All three include free unlimited calls to and from subscriber numbers associated with the XConnect Global Alliance federation, through OIGAA web based softphone (included) or through any SIP compliant IP-Phone. All three offers IM, Presence, Video-Call, Enterprise Directory and file-transfer as PBX like features like Auto Attendant, Music on-hold, voice-mail, conference call and Skype calling. Free OIGAA is a complete on-demand communication service between OIGAA subscribers and XConnect Alliance member users, providing unlimited extensions and lines, as several unified communication features, without any charge. Oigaa became a member of the XConnect Alliance to extend its customer’s free calling zones to a global base of VoIP devices, as well as to provide competitive off-net fixed line and mobile termination to its customers via DirectRoute.

“VoIP and Peering has fundamentally changed the economics and service delivery of the Telephony services into business market” Said Xavier Casajoana, Co-founder of Oigaa and Voz Telecom, “Consumers are rapidly enjoying flat rate pricing on their fixed line, mobile and VoIP offers throughout the world. What is unique about Oigaa is that it is the first to offer a deluxe feature, on-demand enterprise grade PBX service that delivers the VoIP unlimited paradigm to the SME, through unlimited extensions and unlimited calls.“
