Eli Katz

CEO and founder

Eli Katz

Eli Katz is the CEO and founder of XConnect

Katz co-founded and chairs the United Kingdom’s VoIP industry body, the Internet Telephony Service Providers’ Association (ITSPA).

Global Telecoms Business named him one of the “100 most influential people in the telecoms industry” in 2008.

Before founding XConnect, he was Managing Director of Telco Global from its inception in 1996 to 2003. Katz was instrumental in driving the telecoms, Internet and mobile services provider’s rapid growth to one million customers and £250 million in annual revenue. He also was a key player in the IPO of Telco Global’s U.S. parent company.

Katz holds several VoIP directory and security patents.

He is a frequent and dynamic speaker on VoIP peering and regulatory issues, sharing his expertise at international conferences.

Katz graduated from Imperial College in 1992 with first-class honours in computer science.

 


 

John Wilkinson

VP Sales, Marketing and Products

John Wilkinson

A VoIP innovator with 15 years international telecoms experience, John has led commercial operations for XConnect since June 2008 and has been instrumental in propelling IP interconnection, carrier ENUM and NGN services. John was pivotal in achieving the industry first registry tie-up with GSMA PathFinder, launching the first Korean ENUM federation and securing XConnect's Series B funding. Previously, with Interoute, John led development of Europe's largest NGN (Arena) and first Microsoft OCS-based unified communications suite.

 


 

Neil Cohen

Director of Finance

Neil Cohen joined Xconnect as Director of Finance in April 2007. He has over 10 years experience working in telecoms environments implementing strong financial reporting and control mechanisms.

Prior to XConnect, Neil was Finance Director of UK subsidiaries of Destia Communications Inc and Viatel Inc. He participated in taking the Viatel subsidiary into private hands in 2001 and guided the new entity Telco Global Communications through a period of rapid growth, to revenues of £250mil and sale to OneTel, Centrica 3 years later. He joined a leading broadcast equipment vendor, Mitcorp, in 2005 and took it through a growth phase establishing new business divisions on the way.

Neil holds a BA(hons) in Accounting and Finance.


David Schwarz

Chief Technology Officer

David joined XConnect as CTO in June 2007, after spending five years as CTO and co-founder of Kayote Networks, a leading VoIP company with the objective of providing companies with expertise in SIP and other VoIP protocols. While at Kayote, David worked as a close strategic partner to XConnect and was instrumental in architecting the XConnect Network.

Prior to Kayote Networks, Mr. Schwartz served as the Director of Telephony Research at Deltathree, Inc. Prior to Deltathree, David served as a VP in the Information Technology group at Bear Stearns & Co where he was responsible for the development of a three-tier mortgage allocation system. He joined Bear Stearns after serving as a senior Software Engineer at Mentor Graphics where he was responsible for the design and implementation of a VLSI editor and database for an interactive, channel-based routing system. 

David holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, with a focus in Communication Systems.


Myer Luknar

Director of Information Technology

Myer joined XConnect in September 2006 and has over 14 years of experience in Telecom systems development including CRM, Billing, Provisioning and Reporting.

Prior to XConnect, Myer was Head of Solutions for Onetel, Ltd (Owned by Carphone Warehouse), where he built large scale systems from the ground up to support a business with over £1 Billion in revenues and two million customers. Earlier in his career, while serving as Director of IT at Viatel and Telco Global, Myer managed a European Wide team of over 100 staff in both Development and Operations.

Myer holds a First Class Honours degree in Computer Engineering from Imperial College of Science in London.


Ronnen Slasky

Director of Operations & Product Development

Ronnen Slasky has over 15 years of experience in developing and operating large scale networks. Ronnen joined XConnect as Product Director in August 2008 after spending 5 years as Vice President of Operations at Kayote Networks. Mr. Slasky was instrumental in architecting Kayotes platform and was responsible for managing Kayotes' carrier grade global network.

Previously, Ronnen worked at JoyaGlobal Corp as the VP of Technology where he ran the development and operations of the company which developed sophisticated online applications. Prior to joining JoyaGlobal, Ronnen worked at PictureVision, a division of Kodak, where he was instrumental in developing AOL's You've Got Pictures, Kodak Photonet Online and other large scale online applications. Before joining Kodak, Ronnen served as Director of Technology at Virtual Communities, a provider of ethnic websites and content management software tools, where he managed the Operations and R&D staff.



Mark Benisz

VP, Americas

Mark Benisz, Vice President - Americas for XConnect, oversees sales, strategic planning, and business development. Mark has worked in the VoIP arena for more than 10 years and was previously an Associate Vice President with responsibility for global sales at Deltathree.

Prior to Deltathree, Mark was Director of Sales in North America for VocalTec, where he was responsible for selling and implementing VoIP solutions for telecoms carriers and enterprises. Mark has spoken at several international telecom conferences. He also holds a BA degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.


Enrique Garcia-Ayesta

VP, EMEA

With over 20 years telco experience, Enrique has delivered significant top & bottom line value in the EMEA & LATAM regions.

Prior to XConnect, Erique was European Director for Cable & Wireless. Enrique developed  relationships with MNOs, managing & growing the business unit into a market leader position, while opening operations in a number of countries. His last leadership role as SVP Wholesale in C&W turned around the company's LATAM business unit. Enrique has worked in the past for Thales (Defence Comms Equipment. SEA & LATAM) & a number of start ups in the Mobile Infrastructure & New Media Applications (SEA), MVNO (Spain) & WiMax (North Africa) spaces.

Enrique holds a BSc in Computing & Electronic Physics (Spain) plus an international MBA from University of Nottingham (UK).

Ohad Finkelstein

Ohad Finkelstein

Ohad Finkelstein has over 20 years of International business experience in the finance, hardware, software, Internet, Telecom, and venture capital industries in the US, Europe, and Asia. He is an expert on developing new markets and products, as well as restructuring and turning around processes.

Currently, he is leading International investments for Venrock Associates (www.venrock.com), one of the United States’ leading venture capital funds. He is also a private investor, and has served as a board member in some of the most promising technological companies in the world such as;  QPass (sold to Amdocs 2006);   P-cube Inc. (sold to Cisco 2004);  Exanet Inc.(Independent Board Member,  www.exanet.com );  Kagoor Networks  Inc (Sold to Juniper 2005), Ethos Networks Ltd (Chairman of the Board, www.ethos-networks.com );  B-Hive Inc. (Chairman of the Board, www.bhive.net);  Sensomatix Ltd. (Chairman of the Board, www.sensomatix.com); and A-La-Mobile Inc. (Independent Board member,  www.a-la-mobile.com.) 

 
Previously Ohad has held senior management positions in several companies including; Chairman and CEO of the Interoute Telecom Group (www.interoute.com), VocalTec Communications Ltd., Eurocom Communications Ltd., and Packard Bell Electronics from the US. He has also served as a senior advisor for I.D.E.A, a London based world-leader in financial and economic analysis.

Ohad holds bachelors degrees in Political Science and International Marketing from the University of California in Los Angels (UCLA). He is a member of the Institute of Directors, UK.

Dr. Paul Reynolds

Dr. Paul Reynolds

Dr Paul Reynolds was appointed Chief Executive of the Telecom New Zealand - Telecom Group last year. His previous role was as CEO of BT Wholesale in the United Kingdom. Paul joined BT in 1983 after completing a doctorate in geology at the University of London.  

Paul has had a distinguished career, encompassing senior leadership roles in sales and marketing, strategy, information systems, broadband and guiding BT's wholesale business through the complex process of operational separation, when Openreach was created. He served on BT's Board of Directors from 2001. In 2006, the Telecommunications Industry Association of America awarded him its 'Global Icon' award for his leadership and innovation.

Dr. Torsten G. Kreindl

Dr. Torsten G. Kreindl

Torsten joined Grazia Equity as a partner in 2005. He combines more than ten years of successful international venture investment practice with a proven long-term track record of building and managing high-tech organizations from their inception to multi-billion revenues and market caps.

In 1996 Torsten was appointed CEO Deutsche Telekom AG´s broadband cable business, the then world´s largest cable company, which he grew to a customer base of more than 19 million homes within 3 years and introduced one of Europe´s first digital TV offerings. After the business´ spin-off, he built MSG Media Services as its CEO which was acquired by private equity investors.

From 1999 to 2005, Torsten was a founding partner in an international VC fund that made numerous strategic investments, mostly in Silicon Valley/Hi-Tech companies.

Torsten has also served as the Vice President of the European Cable Communications Association (today Cable Europe), a trade association that groups all leading broadband cable TV operators with more than 73 million customers and their national associations throughout Europe.

Since 2003, Torsten has been a board member and Chairman of the Finance Committee of Swisscom AG´s He is also a member of the advisory board of Pictet Digital Communications Fund. Torsten joined the Board of XConnect in September 2009.

Torsten holds a Master's degree in Engineering & Technical Chemistry with a summa cum laude (Dipl.Ing) and a Ph.D (Dr.techn.) from Johannes Kepler University in Austria.


David Hand

David Hand

David M. Hand is a founder and Managing Partner of Crescent Point, a private equity investment firm with offices in Shanghai, Singapore and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

David serves on the boards of directors of Beijing Jadebird IT Education Company Limited, China's leading vocational education company, Masterskill (Cayman) Limited, which through its subsidiaries operates tertiary level education facilities across Malaysia, Starcloud Media Co., Limited, the holding company for Tudou.com, and Carmen Copper Corporation, a copper mining company in the Philippines.

Prior to founding Crescent Point, David worked at Morgan Stanley and was based in New York and Singapore. Mr. Hand received his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Yale University and an M.B.A from the Harvard Business School.

Yuval Shachar

Yuval Shachar

Yuval Shachar is a seasoned entrepreneur and IP communications expert with nearly 30 years experience in voice- and data-networking technology.

For five years ending in 2009, Yuval was a general manager in Cisco Systems' service provider group. He joined Cisco after leading the creation of three companies that Cisco acquired: P-Cube, which specialized in IP service engineering; Pentacom, a pioneer in Dynamic Packet Transport products; and Infogear, an early developer of Web appliances. Yuval managed the growth of P-Cube as its president and CEO and, prior to that role, was a co-founder of Pentacom.

Previously, as vice president of research and development at VocalTec, he directed programs resulting in creation of the first set of VoIP architectures and products; VocalTec went public on NASDAQ. Earlier in his career, Yuval guided development of data and voice communications products and protocols while holding senior positions at National Semiconductor Corporation and Motorola.

Kishor Patel

Former MD of Primus UK

Studied Theoretical physics at Imperial College, London and St.Johns College Cambridge. Qualified as an ACA with D&T, London and went on to join their management consultancy division. Joined Primus Telecommunications as European Finance director and then Managing Director of the UK. Started iPrimus Europe to develop a Europe wide Data hosting spin-off for Primus.

After leaving Primus Kishor founded Blubay Networks an International Wholesale VoIP Business. Kishor is still a major Shareholder in Blubay Networks. More recently Kishor was Director of VoIP at Telco Global and Head of new Business at Centrica Telecommunications.

Jon Arnold

Jon Arnold

Jon Arnold is Principal of J Arnold & Associates, an independent telecom analyst and marketing consultancy based in Toronto, Ontario. The consultancy's primary focus is on IP communications and disruptive technologies, such as VoIP, mobile broadband, telepresence, unified communications, social media and Web 2.0.

He has been consulting about these technologies since 2001, and can be followed on his widely-read Analyst 2.0 blog and his bi-monthly Service Provider Views column published on TMCnet.  Jon contributes to numerous other publishers, is a regular speaker at industry events, and is regularly cited in both the trade press and mainstream business press.

Richard Stastny

Richard Stastny

Richard Stastny, a senior analyst in OeFEG, has studied Physics and Mathematics at the University of Vienna. He has over 30 years of experience in computing, staring with Digital PDP-8 in 1970, and digital switching, working for Schrack and later OeFEG. He was involved in the adaptation of the digital switching system OES-D (Nortel DMS-100) and the introduction of OAM and billing systems within Telekom Austria. He is an active participant in various international standard bodies and fora such as ETSI, ITU-T, IETF, VISIONng and TMF. At OeFEG, he has been responsible for the convergence of NGN networks, the migration to IP based networks, IP Communications, VoIP, ENUM and access to emergency services. Richard is also the chair of the Austrian ENUM platform.

Rohan Mahy

Rohan Mahy is a senior consultant on SIP, VoIP, and Network Address Translation. Previously, Rohan was Chief Voice Architect at Airespace, working on integration of location and real-time services into the Airespace wireless LAN system, and assisting partners with implementation of voice over wireless LANs. Prior to Airespace, Rohan worked for Cisco Systems for eleven years, most recently as a Network Architect in the Voice Technology Group, where Rohan led initiatives in voice security, configuration and administration, distributed call control, and NAT and firewall traversal. Rohan is a well known leader within the VoIP industry, including regular speaking engagements and heavy involvement in the IETF, where he is co-chair of both the SIP and SIPPING working groups. Rohan is also chair of the recently formed SIP Forum Technical working group, and active in the design of the reSIProcate open-source SIP stack.

Richard Shockey

Richard Shockey

An internationally recognized expert and pioneer in ENUM technology and services, Richard Shockey is a founder and has been co-chairman since 2002 of the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) ENUM Working Group. He also co-chairs the IETF working group on Data for Reachability of Inter/Intra NetworK SIP (DRINKS), which deals with provisioning data for VoIP/NGN peering federations.

In addition, Shockey is a member of the board of directors and technical working group co-chair of the SIP Forum, an organization of IP communications companies that promotes adoption of SIP-based products and services.

Shockey has helped develop several ENUM-based commercial products. From 2000 to January 2009, he was as a director and distinguished member of the technical staff at NeuStar. In the information technology forefront since 1992, Shockey previously designed and deployed IP communications solutions for companies including HP and Xerox.

He frequently speaks on ENUM, SIP, NGN and related topics; has written numerous published articles; and has been featured and honored in industry publications.

Alan Duric

Alan Duric

Telio AS, is the fastest growing Nordic Broadband Telephony/Multi-Modal service provider. Duric is an early pioneer of VoIP with almost a decade of active contribution in VoIP, through his sw development and standardization work (as a co-author and/or contributor to number of IETF, ETSI and ITU standards). As a developer and senior systems architect at Ericsson, Alan took part in the early deployment and development of the worlds largest VoIP networks such as Deltathree.

At Global IP Sound, Duric was Senior Systems Architect, where he steered standardization efforts and was responsible for iLBC (internet Low Bitrate Codec), an IETF and CableLabs standard codec for VoIP. Alan serves as Director of Sipfoundry.org BoD and is an Advisor at XTEN´s and Kayote´s Board.

Xavi Casajoana

CEO of Spanish ITSP, VozTelecom

Xavi founded VozTelecom, an innovative VoIP start-up in February 2003, achieving venture capital and first product into the market. VozTelecom was the first European commercial SIP network available for communication application hosting, and providing IP telephony services into the SoHo and SME Spanish market, through IP Broadband access networks.

Before founding VozTelecom, Xavi spent more than 10 years managing IT departments in public and privately held firms, most recently as CEO/Country Manager for Tiscali Spain. Prior to this he was CTO for World Online, Spain and has considerable depth of knowledge in software development and business processes across the Internet and telecoms industry.

Xavi graduated in Computer Science from Polytechnic University in Catalonia (UPC-Spain), and later gained a Masters in Business and Technology from La Salle University (Spain). He also holds a degree in Business Administration and Information Systems from Pompeu Fabra University (Spain).
